Iceland Part 5 - Hverir, Námafjall, Mývatn

Bubbling hot mud bath in the foreground

This area, which is part of Myvatn, deserves a special mention. If you're driving the Ring Road, you are passing this place, so you might as well stop by and take a walk. If knowing that Iceland is volcanic island and is one of the youngest on our planet Earth, isn't enough and you want some solid proof (withough having to climb volcano) come to this place.
Hot and cold

The place is full of smoke, sulphur fumes, bubbling hot baths (80-100C) and fiery red-orange surface, mixes with grey blue mud. I haven't seen a single bird or living critter (apart from couple of other tourists), the sky was overcast and everything looked bleak. If this doesn't look like hell, I don't know what does :-)
Smoking ground and smoking hills. You can hike up the hills and have a view of the area. Which I didn't. Regretful now.
